Born 1974 in Warmbaths, South Africa Born in South Africa in 1974, Louis sold his first painting at age 19. With no formal art training he taught himself and embarked on an exploration of expression, art and self-discovery, painting just about anything that inspired him.

 

During his youth he was exposed to various types of wildlife on game farms his parents and family owned ~ one of the most memorable places being Namibia.

 

Experimenting with various mediums, his preferred medium is oil on canvas.

 

In 1991 Louis du Preez chose to relocate to Cape Town where he focused mainly on wildlife paintings. These he sold privately while participating in competitions and exhibitions in and around Cape Town. To date many of his paintings have been sold and exported to places like America, Germany and Australia…

 

Louis’ work is bold, focusing solely on the subject providing one with an intimate, up close and personal experience.

 

Louis is moved by Africa, the land and its people ~ providing him with his inspiration.
